Room Remodeling and Inspiration

Screenshot (10)

So a big project is happening in my house. I am remodeling my rooms. Yes I said rooms because they are going to be combined together into one big room! Now with a bigger room I realized I’m going to have to fill it up. I have been coming up with ideas and color schemes that I think will suite me.

My color scheme is going to be whites, rose golds, silver, pastel pinks and gold. I feel like these are more mature colors and easy to accomplish.

The bigger of the rooms is going to be where bed is as well as my dressers and nightstands. And the other room will be my beauty room. I am hoping this will become my filming room for YouTube.

These are just two of the inspirations I want for my vanity. I am leaning towards the left set up.

As you can see I have a lot of planning to do with my bed/beauty room. I have been using Pinterest to get ideas for what I want. So check out my Pinterest boards to see more pins that I have for inspiration. Also if you are not following me on Instagram simplyalyssablog, I will be posting updates on Instastories so be sure to check that out. And when everything is completed, I am going to be doing a room tour!

Thanks for stopping by!

Getting Back into Blogging!

It has been awhile since I have posted. My time has been consumed by work and school. But I  have been itching to get back into blogging again. I miss sharing what I love and being creative. So I figured out how often, when and topics I will talk about.

Tuesdays and Thursdays will be posting days. I am going to start out with two days for now and see how I keep up with this. There will be no designated topic for those days for now. And I say for now as I hope to add more blogging days in the future. The topics will be a mixture of lifestyle, beauty, fashion and fitness. I am also hoping to make some YouTube videos which will be different.

So this was a quick and simple post/blogging update. But I am eager to get back into blogging. Tell me in the comments below on what you would like to see me talk about.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Life Update!

IMG_3433

Hey everyone! It has been a while since I posted on my blog. So I decided to do a life update.  AyR Galaxy gave me idea as I was reading her life update. You should check out her blog and Youtube channel, she posts great content!

Let’s get to what I have been up to.

CAREER

Screenshot (19)

If you follow or seen my Instagram you would know that I have started my new job about three weeks ago. I absolutely love it, I love the people I work with and it’s in the healthcare field. The first day I was nervous as always but by the second day I was talking with my co workers and laughing with them. This company is laid back. I get to wear jeans everyday and it’s stress free. I am still in school but I only have two more semesters to go! Thank goodness. But I am thinking about applying to Temple University in Philly to earn my Bachelors and Masters. That is still up in the air but I definitely want to further my education.

LOVE/DATING LIFE

My dating life is pretty non existent right now. I put that on the back burner due to my job situation. I was not sure if I had certain days off or I would have to work overtime. But now that I have my new job where I have a set schedule of 8:00am-4:30pm weekends off, I’m definitely going to get back into dating.  I am in no way rushing anything. I’m 28 and I feel that I still have time.

HEALTH

Like everyone I try to eat healthy, I don’t snack as much as I used to. I am not a gym type of person so I do pilates from the YouTube Blogilates. You can do all the exercises in your own home and a lot of these workouts uses you body as the weights. I do the routines around 7 at night on the weekdays and since I am a night owl I exercise on the weekends at 12:00 am.

I am going to put mental health in with this as well. Now have not had to deal with any mental health issues. But I do have moments where I think too much. I think a lot about the future and sometimes it scares me and sometimes it excites me. I hardly ever think about the past. And I will leave it at that. I also have moments where I think way too hard and start to cry. But I think its healthy to let your emotions out and not bottle them up thinking that you are too strong to cry. It takes a lot to make me cry now than it used to five or six years ago. Other than that I am happy with how everything in my life is going and look forward to the future.

NEW MEMBER OF THE FAMILY!

IMG_3379

I had to add this fella to the post. This is Ben or Benjamin Franklin. My family and I have adopted him from the local shelter May 27th and he is going to be 11 months old. Ben is a handful as we are his third owners. Yeah it’s terrible. People didn’t have patience with him as he is a puppy and hyperactive. Did I also mention he is Border Collie/ Retriever. So he has the biggest and goofiest personality. And is super loveable. As I said he is still a puppy and gets into those playful moods where he wants to nibble. He is in training and is going very well so there is hope for him.

That is all for my update and I want to get back on track posting regularly. I love sharing my passion with others and I want to start doing YouTube videos. Check out my Instagram  simplyalyssablog tomorrow because I will be taking a roadtrip with my dad to Atlanta to pick up my nephew. He is going to be spending a few weeks with us. So I will be posting on Insta Stories.

Thank you for stopping by!

Travel Aspirations

Like many people, I want to travel to so many places. But if I were to talk about all of them this post would turn into a novel. So I am going to talk about my top five countries.

England

england

I am a huge history fanatic. Particularly the history of England. And I am not just fascinated with the history but the the fashion and music as well.  Also I found out that I am 2% English. So that may explain a lot.

This is first on my list and I am happy to say that Summer 2018 I will be going.

New Zealand

auckland-new-zealand

I am a bit of a geek. Yes I love the Lord of the Rings trilogy. And ever since seeing the first movie, I have always wanted to visit New Zealand. The whole country looks amazing and refreshing and peaceful.

India

india

I am half Indian and seeing India would be amazing. I would love to see where my dad grew up and experience India first hand. But I would love to go with my dad if I can get him on a plane for that long.

Iceland

iceland

Now this may be a unconventional place to go. But I love the snow and cold weather(when I’m bundled up). I think it would be fun to go hiking on a glacier and swim in the Blue Lagoon. Also I always wanted to see the Northern Lights.

Italy

Italy_Venice_Hero01

This country is a no brainer. The beautiful architecture, art, food and wine. Traveling in a gondola in Venice and visiting Juliet’s house in fair Verona, learning how to make homemade pasta in Sicily. What more can I say about Italy!

As I said this is just the top five. I have plenty of travel inspo on my Pinterest among other topics. Here is the link if you guys want to check it out.

Where do you want to travel? Let me know in the comments below.

Favorites

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. So I am not the type of person to have monthly favorites. I usually have a collection of favorites that I have discovered. If I did a monthly favorites post will not be long enough. Now let’s get into the post.

Beauty

The Strobe of Genius by NYX is my favorite drugstore highlight palette. You get seven highlighters and all different shades. That lavender one is my favorite. I like how you can use them just how they are and get a nice subtle highlight. Or you can wet a brush with setting spray and get an intense look. I also like to use some of these colors as lid shades.

This was a toss-up between Wet n Wilds and Milani. Now both are amazing and I get Wet n Wild’s primer if my drugstores don’t have Milani. This product keeps my makeup intact throughout the day when used with the setting spray. No it does not minimize pores, but it does help create a smooth surface for foundation.

Matte lips are all the rage now. Liquid Catsuit by Wet n Wild is absolutely my favorite. I know I’m late to the party. But as I am getting used to having matte lips, I have been discovering great products. And to take this a step further, my favorite shade is Rebel Rose!

Fashion

IMG_3176

Can you guess what my favorite trend is from the photos? If you guessed cold/off the shoulder then you guessed correctly. For some reason I love this look. I think it’s the fact that your shoulders are exposed but certain parts of the arm is covered. Also I love floral prints and rompers.

Music

So with music I could not choose one between Incubus and Ed Sheeran. Both are so different. Incubus is an alternative band and I have been a fan since the eighth grade(2004). And Ed Sheeran’s new album after a two year? hiatus is amazing. So both have been on repeat in my car everyday.

That is it for my favorites. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Velvet Matte Lips

wetnwild7

Hello everyone! Sorry it has been a while since I have posted. School and work have been taking over my life. But fortunately this semester is over in TWO WEEKS!! Can you tell I’m excited. I will have more time to post to the blog since I have few things planned. I really want to post my first YouTube video showing my makeup collection. Enough of the explanation and my plans, let’s get onto the post!

These Velvet Matte Lip Colors from Wet n Wild are so pretty. I found these at my Walgreens and they have more colors than these. Let me show you what colors I have picked up.

wetnwild5

Hickory Smoked- The color is a burnt sienna.

wetnwild6

Charred Cherry- Dark Magenta

wetnwild3

Nude Streak- Cannot go wrong with a nude lip.

wetnwild

Berry Tales- Light pink

wetnwild2

Lie Lack- Beautiful lilac

wetnwild8

Left to Right- Berry Tales, Lie Lack,Nude Streak, Hickory Smoked, Charred Cherry

Now the review. I love these. They are gorgeous, light weight on the lips and velvet. But they don’t last long and you have to touch them up after an hour. And I don’t know if any of you get this as well, but it tends to get clumpy at the corners of my mouth. I do suggest that with any matte lip product, apply a lip balm, moisturizer or sugar scrub. There are four other colors as well. So when I get my hands on them I will post them here.

Thank you for stopping by! Hope everyone has a great week.

Makeup Makeup Makeup!

DSC00135 (1)

Hello everyone! Sorry it has been long since my last post. School and work have been busy. But I am back with a makeup post. So recently I have changed all my makeup from Maybelline to Milani and NYX. One because I needed a change and second is for ethical reasons. NYX and Milani do not test on animals. I am trying to be more ethical when it comes to beauty products.

Let’s start off with Primers.

The two primers that I use from Milani are the Prime Light and Prime Shield. Now let me just say the Prime Light was an accidental purchase. I usually don’t go for primers that are shimmery but this is actually quite nice. If I want a more glam look I will wear this since it is quite shimmery and makes the skin glow. If I want a more natural look I use the Prime Shield. This is an oil free, mattifying  face primer. I love this because the formula is light, there is no color to it and easily glides on.

Foundation: Conceal + Perfect

DSC00113 (1)

I have been reading a lot of great reviews for this foundation plus concealer. This is a medium to full coverage makeup. I say this because it’s very buildable with a beauty blender. This also acts a concealer as well so you don’t really need one. But I tend to use one for brightening purposes. This is not a matte foundation, so a finishing powder is a must unless you want that dewy look. For me I am not a fan of the dewy look as I already have a bit of oily skin. This is only $10.00 and they have a good range of shades to choose from.

Setting powders: Milani Prep Set Go and NYX HD Photo Finish

The Milani Prep Set Go is the setting powder I use after my foundation. This powder is great because there is not a lot of transfer onto the brush because its a packed powder. However the NYX HD Photo Finish is not my favorite though. Yes I know this is a loose powder but that is not my issue with this. After I put on the powder it looks fine in the natural light. But when I took a picture with my new camera, I had the flash on and you can see white all over my face. It was terrible and I didn’t even put a lot on. So I might have to experiment with this a little bit more.

Highlighters: Strobe of Genius by NYX and Spotlight Face & Eye Strobe Palette by Milani

Strobe of Genius is my favorite highlighting palette. This is a dupe for Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow palette. The shades are identical to that in tartes palette. Very pigmented, some fallout but nothing crazy and you get seven shades for $18.00. Milanis Spotlight Strobe Palette in Sun Light is a great bronzer when blended together. If you can get a small brush to dip into the highlighting shade, it is beautiful. This would also look amazing on the eyes as well if you want a bronzy smokey eye.

Milani Big Bigger Lashes, Make It Last Setting Spray and Stay Put Matte Liquid Eyeliner

The Big BIgger Lashes mascara is my favorite so far. This gives your lashes lots of volume. But I have to say be careful when using this because it tends to clump up a bit. Milanis setting spray is absolutely amazing. Just a few sprits and I feel that my makeup stays on longer than without it. It does have a bit of a smell, but it’s not that bad. I have only used the liquid eyeliner a few times and I have to say this is the best that I have used. Application is so easy, glides on the lid very well and drys matte. I definitely have to try this more to see the wear and to determine if it lasts 12 hours. But so far so good.

Beauty Blender by Real Techniques

DSC00130 (1)

This beauty blender is one of the best that I have ever purchased. It is soft, easy to apply foundation and easy to clean. I would recommend this to everyone.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I know this is a long post but I had a lot to say about these products. If you have any more questions or have tried any of these products be sure to comment below. And have a great night!

Favorite Face Masks

I love face masks! Everytime I go to the store I always look to see if there is a mask I have never tried before. The benefits you get from using them are amazing.

So I am going to talk about my favorites from peel off, to sheet masks and creams.

The first brand is Miss Spa. I have seen these at Walgreens and Target. They are also at Ulta. So far I have used the Oxygenating bubble mask and the 24k Gold mask. Both of these are so fun to use. The bubble sheet mask activates as soon as you take it out of its package. The 24K is another fun one but a little drippy. I still can’t get the gold shimmer out of the tile. Oops! Cannot wait to try more.

If you follow my Instagram you will know that this is another favorite of mine. They have a variety of masks. Sheets, creams and peel offs. Que Bella just released new ones that I cannot wait to try. Back in October, I won a contest that Que Bell had on their Instagram. They just sent me my prize so that I can try their new ones.

The moringa oil sheet masque is my favorite by far. Smells so good and made my face feel hydrated.

I am also using Alba Botanica deep sea facial mask. I haven’t used it for long to have an opinion on but will update you when I have used it for a few weeks.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

All opinions are my own. I do not receive compensation for my opinions. All products were purchased by me unless noted otherwise.

Drugstore Highlighters

Hello everyone and Happy Friday!

I love highlighting even though I don’t contour. Since I have been adding this to my makeup routine, I wanted to check out different colors. So I will be showing three creams and two powders.

This powder one is from Wet n Wild and I’ve had it since Spring when they came out. This one is called Where the Dreamers Go. This has been my go to and the only one that I had for a while. As you can see it is beautiful and effective. It also blends nicely.

This next one is by e.l.f. and it their baked highlighter in Moonlight Pearl. I’m not too crazy about this one. It’s still gorgeous but not a effective as the Wet n Wild one.

img_2472

img_2470

img_2471

img_2469

These next ones are the creamy highlighters by Jordana. I recently found these in Walgreens for $4.99.  The first one(and the right side of my hand) is called Radiant Glow and is a rose goldy kind of color. The second one (and the left side of my hand) is called Pearl Glow. And the last one is Bronze Glow. I cannot wait to wear this in the Summer. It is gorgeous and I think a little too dark for Winter.

Have any of you guys tried these? If so which is your favorite?

Thank you for stopping by and hope you have a great weekend!

Christian Siriano Collection

img_2365

Hello everyone! I am back with a new post. I know it has been so long but this semester has been crazy. And so has my hours at work. But now that school is done until late January and the holidays are almost over, I think this is the best time to start back up. Speaking of the holidays I cannot believe Christmas is almost here! It feels like Halloween just ended. But what better way to celebrate Christmas than with a post about a makeup gift set. This set is by Christian Siriano whom I absolutely love. His designs are so beautiful and I love that he has a shoe collection at Payless. I found this set at Walgreens for $10 and you get four lipsticks and four nail polishes.

img_2362

img_2361

img_2359

img_2360

The nail polishes are beautiful. You definitely have to shake them well and use them a couple times before they go on smoothly. They are also not named which was kind of disappointing. I think that’s the best part. I love the red and the pinks.

img_2369

img_2366

The lipsticks as you can see are very pigmented and beautiful. Again they are not named which is a bummer. Also I would have loved the red if it didn’t have a orange undertone to it. I was a bit disappointed in that these went on smoothly, they feel matte on the lips and stayed put for a decent amount of time.

So is everyone ready for the holidays? I am almost ready. Just have to get a couple more things for my mom and then wrap.

Thank you for stopping by!
